Don Hess is a former corporate lawyer with 38 years experience in Australia, the United States and Hong Kong. He has extensive experience advising boards of public and private companies, including in the not-for- profit sector.
In addition to almost 16 years as a partner in leading international law firms, Don served as general counsel and company secretary of one of Hong Kong’s leading publicly-listed companies for almost five years. He has also served as an Australian Government Trade Commissioner in New York, New Delhi, Bonn, Belgrade and Canberra.
Don is currently President of the Asia Pacific Regional Council of Variety and a member of the Board of Variety International. He
also serves on the Finance and Audit Committee of Medecins sans Frontieres (MSF) in Hong Kong.
Don holds Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Laws (Honours) degrees from Monash University in Melbourne, Australia and a Master of Laws degree from the University of Melbourne in Australia.
He is a member of the Hong Kong Law Society, the Law Institute of Victoria, the New York State Bar Association, the
State Bar of California and the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Dr May Lam is a Specialist Psychiatrist and an Honorary Clinical Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Hong
Kong. Dr Lam is a graduate of the University of New South Wales, and held a Research Fellowship at Harvard Medical School,
Harvard University in 2004.
Dr Lam has longstanding clinical experience focusing on child and adolescent conditions. She has been actively involved in training local educational and mental health professionals and promoting health education by delivering educational talks to general public.
Dr Lam served as a Board Member of Guardianship Board, Hong Hong SAR, China, and she currently serves as a Board
Member of the Mental Health Review Tribunal, Hong Kong SAR, and a Board Member of the Post-Release Supervision Board,
Hong Kong SAR.
Dr Lam leads the Variety Butterfly Program.

Wai Yee Lam is a senior executive with more than 30 years experience spanning several technology industries including roles with major companies and early stage businesses, as well as advisory firms, in the UK and Hong Kong.
Wai Yee has extensive experience in the not-for- profit sector in Hong Kong, and regularly advises NGOs and charities on strategic planning, fund-raising and corporate governance. She holds an MBA from Cranfield School of Management; a Master of Science in Computing Science from the University of Newcastle; and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from University College of London, as well as a Financial Times Non Executive Director Diploma.
She is a fellow of the Hong Kong Institute of Directors and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, UK.

Ken Loughnan is President of Variety International. Ken is a senior international Company Chairman with extensive experience in chairing Boards in the Private, Public and Non-Profit Sectors across 15 countries.
His private sector appointments include publicly listed companies, employing up to 55,000 staff, and well as companies covering 17 key individual industry sectors.
He has chaired public sector boards continuously since 1983 in a range of jurisdictions including agriculture, emergency services, gaming and defence.
His non-profit governance experience spans two Australian Universities as a member of Council, Chair of Foundation and President of Graduate Union. He was the Deputy Chair of Variety Victoria before becoming the Variety Australia National Chairman and joining the Variety International Board as Vice President in 2007, a position he held until becoming Variety International President in 2017.
Ken was appointed an Officer in the Order of Australia (AO) by Queen Elizabeth the Second in 1994 for outstanding service to international business and the development of global telecommunications. He was awarded an honorary doctorate (Honoris Causa) by Victoria University, Australia in 2014.

He is a past Managing Director of The Blurton Family Development Center, a leading mental health practice serving children’s needs in Hong Kong. He also serves as Director of The Harbour School Foundation, an award-winning progressive international school in Hong Kong.
Working alongside an accomplished multi-disciplinary team of psychologists and education experts, Daniel has lead projects in strategic planning and financial management.
Daniel’s past experience includes web strategy and redesign in the United States. He has spent nearly 20 years working and studying in Hong Kong.
